Hahaha, I hope you enjoyed my little recipe y’all. I have shared this juice a number of times on my Snapchat and Instagram story and often get questions as to what I put in this.
In this blog I break down how I actually go about making this, how long I keep it, why I drink this and my substitutes for varying recipes.
When I am working more at my desk I find that I am reaching more for more cups of coffees during the day even if I don’t need it. I just have a drink at my table to keep me going. When I am out and about I love a good green juice or something with beetroot and ginger.
So for days that I am working out of my home office I wanted to have an easy recipe that I could whip up in 5 minutes and could last me the whole day.
NOTE: This is a very very simplified version of this recipe… once you try it you can really use this as a base and add superfood powder or other immunity or metabolism boosting ingredients to reach your own health goals.
Makes approx. 3 glasses
1/2 continental cucumber
3 celery sticks
1 apple (preferably one that hasn’t been rotten due to the summer heat)
Bunch of parsley
Slices of lime
2 cups of water
This just creates the base of a hydrating juice
You can add so much to this juice
Even superfood powders like Spirulina and Maca
You can really boost this up to how you like it and flavors you like it with
I once tried a variation with vanilla essence and it was interesting but so good.
Organic honey, brown sugar are also good
WHY DO I SIEVE IT
I don’t have a juicer which would usually separate the skin and “bones” of the vegetable so I simply sieve it.
And it is quite simple with this juice because it is water based. If it was a flesh heavy juice I think I would just drink it and not bother.
For this amount, it only took me about 3-5 minutes to sieve all the juice through.
The lime makes all the difference. It slowly diffuses through the juice while you are drinking it and keeps it fresh and refreshing.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP
1 day, I really wouldn’t keep it any longer. I make three glasses worth, keep it in the fridge and drink it throughout the day with my meals.
HOW HAS IT HELPED ME LONG TERM
I have definitely veered off the coffee over the last 2 months. I know this is a fact because I still have a full pack of coffee pods in my pantry which would usually be finished by now. Generally also when I have this as I work, my energy and focus has been consistent throughout the day.
