From Studiocanal comes a brilliant showcase of great characters and personal character building with a storyline that everyone from adults, teenagers and children can take away a little note of wisdom from.

Compiled in a pillow of humor and lighthearted love this tale is for those that want to persevere and aim to achieve more from their destiny.

Félicie, a young orphan from Brittany, has only one passion: dance. Her wildest dream is becoming a prima ballerina at the Paris Opera. With her best friend Victor, who wants to become a great inventor, they devise a madcap plan to escape the orphanage for Paris, the City of Lights – at a time when they are still building the Eiffel Tower! Félicie is up for anything to make her dream come true. She assumes the identity of her rival, Camille, to get into dance school. She puts up with grueling workouts to master the grace and technique of ballet and submits to the stress of auditions at the Opera… With her mentor Odette and Victor, Félicie will fight like never before to surpass herself and learn from her mistakes. But nothing is too strenuous to make a dream come true…

I had the opportunity to preview Ballerina this past weekend, and from the moment it began to the ending I was smiling. It is a great movie to kick all those new years resolutions into full swing.

Felicie is such a great character and a personality that you recognize yourself in. We all passion for things we love, and that is exactly who Felicie was. Victor is out of this hilarious with his chicken and pigeon wings (that he actually uses to fly around) and the little tokens of love stories between the characters are so brilliant that it just tinges at the heartstrings just a little.

The cast list is so epic, Elle Fanning opposite Maddie Ziegler and Carly Rae Jepsen and a spectacular soundtrack.

Ballerina opens tomorrow 12th January

  1. Sounds lovely! Love me a good animated movie, and great to see a smaller animation studio taking on the big dogs (pixar/dreamwirks).
